MOMS ARE LIVING A MYTH EVERY DAY
Average moms feel constant pressure to be perfect and to never ask for help… The Mommies Network is working to change that.
Over the years the number of things that moms are expected to take on has grown, and continues to grow, at a rapid rate. Not only are moms expected to raise the kids, teach them to have perfect manners, good grades, and respect for their elders, but these days most expect Mom to have a full-time job, as well. Not to mention, spare time (after raising respectable humans and working 40 hours a week) to make all the recipes, crafts, and projects on Pinterest, Facebook, Etsy, or whatever other social media outlet they might be on that week.
More and more, it seems, that this is projected as the standard for moms everywhere. Perfectionism at all costs. If you have to stay up all night to get it all in, then do it. Don’t ask for help, don’t show weakness! Do it all and be a role model parent, stellar employee, and creative genius all at once, and with no help from anyone. That’s what society sets moms up to believe they need to be.
News flash: It’s a myth. Moms can’t do it all without support. Moms are trying to do their best every day, just like everyone else, and they need a kind word or a pat on the back at times, just the same as everyone else. That’s where The Mommies Network (TMN) comes in. TMN is a network of moms all across the country, giving support and getting support from other moms. Whether it be advice, a shoulder to lean on, or just someone to listen when you need to vent… The Mommies Network is here.
This month, TMN is working hard to get rid of the Mommy Myth and to continue giving support to the moms of America. Everyone needs a friend or someone who’s been there before… so please, if you’re a mom and you know the feeling, come check out the “local chapter” and meet “Heather” the Chapter Manager for an introduction to the chapter and to see how TMN can support you. Or donate to the May is for Mothers campaign here to give support to the moms who need it.
